Marketing the Marketer
Marketing is a crucial part of starting a new business. When you offer marketing services, you’d better be doing a fab job marketing yourself or it won’t look great for your business. It’s like being both the conductor and the musician in a symphony. You have an intimate understanding of the music.
If marketing is my music I’d say it has a good 80’s synth beat. You’d think bopping along and being so familiar with this tune would make my job easier. Unfortunately putting yourself out there as a marketer can lead to overthinking, hesitation and even creative paralysis!
To help with this, or anytime you feel stuck I recommend taking a breather. A break from work like patting the cat, walking the dog, or grabbing a coffee are all good options. A bit of distance is often needed to boost those creative juices.
I often use humour to help lighten the workload. It’s easy when your job is fairly light and no lives are on the line. If you make a misstep, as no doubt you will, have a laugh and move through it. Confidence in your skills is a must and I think that shows through in marketing or any profession. If you are having fun, vibing to your own music, your job doesn’t feel like work.
